Turns out you were on the right track. The new door came with springs that

are built into the long tube that opens the door. I called the door guy and he told me how to adjust them. Just needed a 5/8 wrench to turn them (each side) and with the door open, hardly any torque resistance. Easy-peasy. I used to have the big spring in the middle of the long rod tube, but they replaced it with the side springs built into the tube. Door is working again. I had noticed it was making a lot of noise when first started to open, so it probably slipped a little and there was too much load at first and the opener wouldn't handle it. My ramblings make sense? Anyway, looks like I just save a couple hundred bucks. For now.;)
